I heard the sound of rejoicing
Far from a distant country
I looked left, right and left again
Alas! No crowd in view

I thought it was my turn
To join this happy throng
The people with the full Quiver
Alas! I looked down and saw nothing

Surely a voice calls from afar
Look up, Look up
It is your turn to jubilate
Your Gift is here!

Weeping may endure for the night
But Joy comes in the morning
Now Rejoice!

Friend, Stop looking left and right
Lift up your eyes to the hills
Receive your gift from on high
Come rejoice with me.

From a distant country again
The angelic voices resounded
Join me and sing Halleluyah!
The Giver of life has honoured me!
