This lesson teaches us that in life it is not only good to forgive but that we need to help, whenever possible, other Christians who may be struggling with unforgiveness to forgive others. We see Apostle Paul in the book of Philemon encouraging Philemon to forgive his now converted runaway slave, Onesimus, who had done him wrong. That Philemon should also receive him back not as a slave but even better as a brother in Christ. Apostle Paul also in the book of Hebrews (12:15) encouraged the brethren to “See to it that no one misses the grace of God and that no bitter root grows up to cause trouble and defile many. By bitter root here, Apostle Paul is talking about unforgiveness. If the brethren is to see to it that no bitter root grows up in their midst, they have to forgive one another and encourage and help those struggling with unforgiveness to be able to forgive others.
